He will take office on January 1st, 2005, for a period of 2 years. AUTOMED stands for "Automatisierungstechnische Verfahren für die Medizin". It is a common section of the German VDI/VDE Society for Measurment and Automatic Control (Gesellschaft Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik, GMA) and the German Society of Biomedical Engineering (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik im VDE/DGBMT).
